Silverdale Substation

Posted on by Jessica Christensen
Client: Locher Evans International | Location: Mission BC | Completion Date: July 2014

Project Highlights:

Twin new transformers which weigh 64,000 kg each were delivered into the new Silverdale Substation in Mission, BC. Access into the Under Construction Substation was extremely tight and had both vertical and horizontal curves in the road which prevented access by conventional highway trailers. A shortened trailer and our hydraulic lifting fifth wheel tractor were used to bring the transformers on-site. Maneuverability of crews and equipment required particular care and planning as the construction of the substation was in full swing with several contractors occupying the site.

Services:

  • Offroad equipment to bring transformers into the substation
  • Jack and Slide procedure to install the transformers accurately on their new foundations.
  • Quick and accurate placement of the load was needed for seating the transformer bases in the wet grout bed on the new foundations.
